Breathing new life into Huntington bank’s mobile application.

How might I keep the core functionality the same, while developing a new design language & ethos?

Reimagining the visual landscape: transforming Huntington’s mobile user interface.

Within this independent personal project, my focus was directed towards exploring a visual redesign of Huntington Bank’s mobile application, specifically the user interface.

My goal was to bring forward a new visual style for application, in a way that aligned more with the modern design landscape, along with aligning more inline with Huntington’s established brand identity.

What were my first steps in redesigning the application?

Research, foundation & branding.

To begin this project I briefed myself on Huntington’s past branding decisions by using all the available material I could online, documents, slideshows, PDFs, etc. These resources guided me in creating a brand style tile, and component sheet, cementing the choices for a color palette, and font family.

As the primary typeface I selected Rubik, for a legible sans-serif with a more friendly or approachable feel due to the fonts rounded corners.

I narrowed down to using a five-color palette, choosing the iconic Huntington green in three different shades, for primary actions, highlighted actions, and active button states. Paired alongside an off-white and grey to ensure clarity, and legibility for all users, while reinforcing Huntington’s brand recognition with the three primary tones.

Low-Fidelity

As this was a solo design project, I had to work around the absence of user testing & feedback. Focusing on keeping the user experience, and interactions identical to how they are within the current application, to retain user familiarity and recognition.

I quickly moved through only a few Low-Fidelity wireframes, since the experience and interactions are staying the same, I felt as if I would be wasting my time worrying about interactions and placement of elements, since that was already laid in the current application.
